A life-long lover of food, wine, restaurants, hotels and bars – here in Sussex and all over the world.

After early work in pubs and waitressing, I started my career on the graduate scheme at Harrods progressing to retail management. It was the perfect foundation in how to run a business based on creating the very best in customer service.

In later HR positions, such as Director of a large consumer business, I was responsible for creating high performing teams to deliver sales and customer care. This perspective and focus on the customer remains central in all that I do. As a result, I have extremely high standards and attention to detail (which is not always a good thing!).

In recent years, I have completed my wine qualifications while also running the food and drink section for Platinum Business Magazine, the articles for which can be found on this site.

Through my work and hobby, I have been lucky enough to stay and dine in some of the best venues in the world. I admire those venues that know how to create a memorable experience and make the customer feel truly valued.

And now as a restaurateur, I am experiencing first hand the challenges from the other side of the fence. Delivering a great customer experience and creating memories for my guests is an ever-constant pursuit and when achieved, is the most rewarding thing I can think of.

Inevitably influenced by my recent endeavours, here at PeoplePlacesFood you will find food & drink reviews where I aim to consider venues from both perspectives: as guest and increasingly as owner. My monthly column published in Platinum Business Magazine can also be found here and is an insight into my dining life. You will also find other features written by guest contributors such as Nick Mosley, Managing Director of Brighton & Hove Food and Drink Festival and Jonny Gibson of Sussex Wine School.
