You know when you get cravings for a particular dish that you’ve had in a restaurant? That.

I used to crave H.en’s grilled chicken and sweet potato fries; perfect dirty comfort food but then it closed and I was distraught. Luckily there are plenty of other addictive food items to be found within our excellent restaurants.

This article is all about the dish, not the venue. If you haven’t tried them I’d urge you to check them out….

Whats not to love about deep fried doughnut batter with a subtle tang of goats cheese? Oh and that truffle honey offsets that tang beautifully. A unique dish.

The highest quality smoked salmon (not too greasy or plasticy but rather subtle and light), with warm homemade blinis fresh from the frying pan and accompanied by crème fraiche and the tradition garnishes. Excellent with a glass of champagne.

This underated Brighton institution serves the best Spanish food in Brighton and the Suckling pig is the absolute highlight.

This gem of a place serves the freshest organic interesting and hearty salads with meat, fish and vegetarian options to accompany. Changes daily. I’ve never been disappointed.

The grilled chicken thighs marinated in lemon zest, onions & yoghurt. Served with rice & salad from Kambis on Western road.


The best kebab venue in Brighton and Hove, it has a loyal following especially as it operates a BYOB policy making it a good value option. The food is superb and fresh and cooked on open grills. The chicken thighs in particular are a stand out dish but all the food is excellent.
